Hello my name is Erin Wakeland. I am an artist who started out making stop motion yarn videos in high school. I love to paint, write, and work with my hands. And I still like that yarn video; should I not? I mostly use recycled materials and have retained the description “thrifty, scrappy, and imaginative.” Here is an inflatable "Elephant in the Room” I made for a climate protest. I curated an exhibition "Earthbody” at the Ann Arbor Art Center in Summer 2019. During college I worked on an archeological dig in Rome and dug stuff up. I love surprising others and being surprised back. I wrote a book about it for my senior thesis. I won the Big Idea Award at the end of college and I am renovating a house to host an artist residency.
